Sponsor a child - transform lives
Many children and families in the developing world lack access to such essentials as clean water, food, basic healthcare resources and a home in which to take shelter from the elements - things that most of us are fortunate enough to be able to take for granted. Sadly, many children in the UK are also in need of charity-based support.

Humanitarian charities strive to provide support to those living in poverty and to make a real difference to their lives. Some of these charities operate "sponsor a child" fundraising programmes, through which they fund and manage vital work that delivers healthcare, sanitation, water, education and other projects, including many that enable people to help themselves in the longer-term.
Sponsor a Child Programmes
Charity child sponsorship schemes focus on improving the children's quality of life including in respect of their health, nutrition and education - helping them to realise their potential, all the way through into adulthood.
The programmes also build mutually beneficial bonds between the children and their supporters, who receive regular feedback on the progress of the child that they have chosen to sponsor.
How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
A minimum monthly contribution is required when sponsoring a child. With World Vision, our featured child sponsorship charity, the cost to sponsor a child is currently £26 a month - which is roughly equivalent to 85p a day. Should you wish to donate more, you are of course welcome and able to do so.

How beneficial is child sponsorship?
In a word, hugely. Even "small" donations - as viewed from our perspective, living in the UK - can be put to immense practical benefit in support of a charity's work with children, families and communities in developing countries.
Critically, whilst one-off donations are always greatly appreciated by charities, the financial support provided when sponsoring a child is ongoing. This assurance of repeat income enables the charities that operate these schemes to plan and deliver continuous support to the long-term benefit of the sponsored child and their community.
